Favorites – Channel Entry Format - LC Button

Why Channel Format Matters

  • There are many different cable boxes in use.
  • Even the same box model may function differently due to firmware variations by the provider.
  • Different cable providers and locations may use different firmware versions.

So, finding the correct channel entry format requires some experimentation.

Step 1: Identify Your Flipper Model

  • Look on the back of the remote for a model number (e.g., V7, V8, V9).
  • Always program two channels to test the format before proceeding.

Step 2: Available Channel Entry Formats

Flipper supports three different channel entry formats.

1️⃣ Just Digits

  • Enter the channel number directly:

    • 123-ADD
    • 456-ADD

  • Optional Speed Optimization:

    • Adding leading zeros can improve speed for low-digit channels:
      • 0001-ADD
      • 0015-ADD
      • 0123-ADD

2️⃣ Use of OK Signal

For Flipper V9 and Above:

  • The OK signal is stored in the LC button:
    • 123-LC-ADD
    • 456-LC-ADD

For Flipper V8 and Below:

  • The OK signal is stored in the Mute button:
    • 123-Mute-ADD
    • 456-Mute-ADD

3️⃣ Use of Enter Signal

For Flipper V9 and Above:

  • The Enter signal is stored in the Mute button:
    • 123-Mute-ADD
    • 456-Mute-ADD

For Flipper V8 and Below:

  • The Mute button sends both OK and Enter signals:
    • 123-Mute-ADD

⚠️ Important Note:

  • On some cable boxes, pressing OK/Enter may cause a Menu to appear.
  • This issue may occur only with 4-digit channels.
  • If this happens, do not use OK/Enter, or only use it with 3-digit channels and below.

Step 3: Programming the Favorites

1️⃣ Enter Programming Mode

  • Press and hold STB + ADD together until the light is solid.

2️⃣ Enter Channels in the Correct Format

  • Example entries:
    • 123-ADD
    • 123-LC-ADD
    • 123-Mute-ADD

3️⃣ Exit Programming Mode

  • Press and release STB once.

4️⃣ Finalize Setup

  • V9 Models: Setup is complete.
  • V8 and Below:
    • Enable Dual Mode, then lock settings:
    • Press and hold ADD until solid, then enter 955.

Step 4: Box-Specific Guidelines

🔹 Xfinity:

  • Some (but not all) Xfinity boxes require the OK signal (123-LC-ADD).

🔹 Dish:

  • Many Dish boxes work better with the Enter signal (123-Mute-ADD).

🔹 Spectrum:

  • 50/50 Split: Some Spectrum boxes ignore OK/Enter, while others require it except for 4-digit channels (where Mute may trigger a menu).

🔹 DirecTV:

  • Usually performs better with the Mute signal (123-Mute-ADD).
